What is the Holy Bible?

The Bible is a book for all people, for all times. It consists of 66 different books, including books of law, history, poetry, prophecy, autobiographies, and personal letters.

Approximately forty individuals contributed to writing the Bible (2 Peter 1:21), and it was written over a span of 1500 years.

All scripture is “inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16), which means that God inspired humans to write exactly what He wanted them to write. God is faithful, and His word is complete (Psalm 33:4), and He promised us that His word will never fail. Thus, we can trust His word completely, just as we can trust Him completely.

Historically, we can also examine this by visiting museums and looking at ancient scriptures and manuscripts of the Bible that are over 2000 years old. We can see with our own eyes how God’s word has remained the same (for example, the Sinai manuscript, Dead Sea Scrolls, etc.). The Bible is the story of God, starting with creation and traversing through the history of God’s people, reaching prophecies about things that will come and what will happen in heaven and eternity.

The Bible has two main sections: the Old Testament and the New Testament. Jesus Christ is the main character of the Holy Bible — in fact, the entire book talks about Him alone. The Old Testament prophesies His coming and specifies the time of His entry into the world. The New Testament describes His coming and His mission to bring salvation to our fallen world.
